Blackberry Who?

For the past 4 years I have been a member of Team Blackberry. The mere thought of owning an iphone made me cringe. "I would destroy that phone", was my reason for staying away. "I could never live without bbm", was another excuse.
Don't get me wrong, I have been a MacBook user for quite some time now & I could not imagine ever going back to a PC. A Mac computer is so much more user-friendly than a PC, that is once you understand how to navigate it. I love my laptop. Its always been my favorite gadget but not anymore...

We recently connected the wifi to my son's ipod touch & I selfishly installed a few apps for me, namely Twitter & Words With Friends. Once I started to fiddle around with it I began to realize what I've been missing all this time. Especially being that I was an AT&T customer. It was at that moment that I decided I MUST have an iphone.

With all the lines on our family plan already eligible for contract renewal, we made the switch over to Verizon & while my husband wanted to stick with Blackberry, I opted for the iphone 4.

I'M IN LOVE!!

For someone like me, who's cellphone is an integral part of their every day, this phone is a G-d send. In my opinion, it blows the Blackberry right out of the water. How so? Let's see, where should I begin?

Camera:
The shutter speed is ridiculous. The picture quality is excellent. The videos & sound quality are great. Works just as well as my flip cam so I don't feel the need to have that on me all the time anymore. Also, accessing your photo library is so easy that my 3yr old can do it, unlike the blackberry which is a whole production. Not to mention that with Blackberries a media card is mandatory for taking videos & storing more photos. To some, that is not a big deal but take it from me ... that media card could one day bug out on you & destroy all your priceless video footage. I know this can happen because I've unfortunately had first hand experience.

Internet:
I have no words. The web is so fast, I can't keep up. I'm so used to the word buffering that when I now use the iphone it's like I'm in a culture shock. Ironically I even find myself using my laptop less & less for minor things like purchasing ebooks for example. Literally takes 3 minutes. Sick!!

Apps:
I'm sure you know that I could probably create an entire blog focusing only on apps. Now I'm new to this Apple app shtick. Even though I used the Blackberry App World all the time, iphone apps are in a complete league of their own. There is literally an app out there for every Tom, Dick & Harry. Currently I have Tweetbot, Shazam, Dragon Dictation, Shop List,  Amazon & Fandango. I even have an app for my blog!! I also created an icon for my daughter & downloaded some apps for her as well. She has Dora Ballet, Hello Kitty, Curious George, Sally Spa, Talking Tom & Smurf Village. All this & I've had the phone less than 2wks.

Keyboard:
Not gonna lie, this is a feature that takes some getting used to. It is very smooth & fast as can be. Sometimes it's even a little too fast. The auto-correct has it's pros & it's cons. Most of the time it can identify the word you want to type almost as if it's reading your mind, while other times it ends up making G-d awful decisions that end up in disastrous typos. All in all though once you get accustomed to it it's a breeze.

Contacts:
Anyone that says that they can't live without bbm needs to have their head checked. (Don't worry, I have). So you won't know with certainty that they read your message, so what? Texting serves the same purpose. So much so that I don't find that I'm lacking anything without bbm & I'm surviving just fine. I actually don't mind not being subjected to all those lame daily status updates. You know, the ones where different contacts converse with each other in code (insert eye-roll smiley here). Oh & thats another thing, the smileys on bbm don't hold a candle to the ones you're given on whats app, especially with the emoji addition - the selection is endless.

So I'm assuming that by now it's obvious, to anyone reading this, how pleased I am with the iphone 4. I can't even fathom whats in store for us when the next generation iphone is released later this year. It's going to be epic.

In a nutshell I honestly cannot believe that I waited this long to possess this device! But I guess better late than never, right?

PS.
After just 3 days with the new Blackberry my husband requested an exchange for the iphone. It's due to arrive next week :)

Update: May, 21...The Husband is in heaven
