Does The Thought Really Count?

Living in NY, everything is fast paced. People drive fast, talk fast & basically live fast.
Everyone is always in a rush.
A rush to where?
Sometimes I think they're not even quite sure.
But they have to get there & in the quickest time possible.

So when someone takes a moment to think of you & buy you a gift, say for your birthday...
& let's just say that although it was thoughtful of them to think of you, it's obvious that aside from the thought of having to get you something in the first place, that is the only thought that went into the gift whatsoever.

You can tell it was more of a:

"Oh, I have to get so & so something"
*sigh*
"Well, I'm already in Target I'll just get something here"

Guess what?

A person always knows when something is done based on formality.

I don't know about you, but when I buy something for someone (anyone) I never make a purchase just to get the task out of the way. Even if it's a kids birthday party, which are a dime a dozen these days.
I am not about my recipient opening a gift from me & being disappointed. Ever! I prefer that their excitement extend well beyond the gift wrap.

A gift can be all wrapped up in a charming little package with a big bow & all the trimmings,
however....
presentation, as important as it is, can only take you so far.

A gift should have depth
A gift should be meaningful
A gift should be worth the time you took out of your day to get it.

In other words....
If you're buying a gift, make the thought actually count.

I'm Back

It's been over a year since my last post.

A year!!!

I almost can't believe how long it's been, considering how much I love it.
My blog press app has remained on my devices the entire time, reminding me that the blog still existed but...
For some odd reason, I just kept on ignoring it....

That is, until this past weekend.

It's funny how the Internet works. You put something out there & then you kind of forget that what you post has the capability to reach the entire world (except for maybe China, but thats a whole nother blog entry)

So it made sense that I was taken aback when a friend (Hi Shaun!!) casually mentioned that he's read my blog & loved it. He wanted to know why I stopped writing.

My answer??

I had no answer.
I had no answer because I really don't know why I stopped posting.

Soooooo.......

I've decided to give it another go.

I'm excited about it.

The summer has only just begun & with the majority of my community all living within a 20 mile radius, of each other, for the next 2 months....

the blogging opportunities are endless :)

Cheers to Summer 2012 !!!
